I wonder what this says about our family
Today at lunch the Duggar family came into the conversation. G (age 9.5) said something like, "Wow, God sure has given them a lot of babies!"
I agreed, and L (age 6) asked if they are Christians. I said yes.
She said, "So they're Christian like us? Only nicer?"
I have a confession
And some of you may rank this right up under blasphemy. So you might want to sit down.
I am not a mountain lover.
There. I said it. I'll pause as you get out your smelling salts and revive yourself.

But seriously, I'm not. And the reaction I get from people when I share that with them - it IS as though I have just denied Christ or something! I cannot for the life of me figure out WHY I get such a strong reaction either!
*GASP* "You don't like MOUNTAINS????? Are you CRAZY????? But they are so beautiful! When I look at them I am just in awe of God's power and majesty! And I love to go up in the mountains - I just feel so much closer to God. HOW CAN YOU NOT LIKE MOUNTAINS????????" (You get the picture.)
But ya know, I just don't. I enjoy, for one thing, storms. I know storms do occur in SOME mountainous areas, but in the one I live in now? Nada. Oh, my kingdom for a clap of thunder, I tell ya!!! I like a good squall line - one you can watch on the radar for a couple hours before it finally hits your house.
I also enjoy sunsets. In the mountains the sun doesn't really set, it merely goes behind a mountain. LOL.I like to be able to see for a long way.
I love tall grass, rippling in the wind on a wide open prairie.
I like a good, stiff breeze from time to time.
Yeah, mountains are pretty, and they can be fun to visit, but I just don't enjoy LIVING in them.
No one seems to understand any of this. They all consider me blasphemous (or close to it LOL) for not liking the mountains. But ya know what hit me? The same God who made the majestic mountains made the wide open prairies. I can see His power and awesomeness in the rippling grass just as well as in snow-capped peaks. He created it all.

Leaving a situation that is offensive to us and goes against our standards, ESPECIALLY if our children are present
