Um, YEAH
This was a teaser for an article in an upcoming issue of our local paper:
Ditch the eight-ball, put down the Ouija Board and get with real Spokane psychics this Halloween
In other words, don't just dabble and play around with the occult, jump in with both feet and immerse yourself in it.
YIKES.There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer or a charmer or a medium or a wizard or a necromancer, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the LORD. And because of these abominations the LORD your God is driving them out before you.

In memory of my friend Nikki
Nikki Michelle Espinosa
(July 22, 1974 - October 9, 2006)One of my dearest friends growing up passed away on Monday, after a battle with a very rare form of cancer. I didn't even know she was sick.

We played the flute together in junior high and high school. I remember many days of goofing around in the marching band practice field...usually when we should have been doing something else.
I remember lots and lots of slumber parties. She always seemed to overflow the toilet in Kristi Sparks's basement. (I do think it was a problem with the toilet LOL.)Our first semester of college, Nikki and I were roommates. I had the top bunk; she had the bottom. She let me borrow her car a lot to drive home to see my boyfriend. I remember that her windshield wipers were awful LOLOL!!! We both hated going to school there and both moved back home. At our new school, I'd see her sometimes, but not nearly as often, and that made me sad!
Life took me far away, and we lost touch for several years. I got to see her at our class reunion, and she was the same ol' Nikki. Looked exactly the same.

Nikki was one of the most gentle people I've ever known. She never said a bad word about anyone and never complained about anything. Things had to REALLY STINK in order for her to complain! She was bright and so, so funny! She always used to joke that she was Hispanic and that her name was Nikita Maria Espinosa. (LOL it was SO NOT, and she was Spanish, not Hispanic.) She wasn't one to go along with the crowd if they were being mean to someone either, and that was always so refreshing. She was upbeat and optimistic and was a wonderful, wonderful friend.
I will miss her greatly.

HUGE NEWS!!!!!
This week my 9yo ds has read 2 books on his own, for pleasure!

This morning my 8yo ds came down for breakfast and announced that he too has started reading a book for fun. (Where is that fainting emoticon???????)
My boys do not like books in any form or fashion, so this is MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR!!!!!!!!!!!
The book series they are reading is this one:
I knew she was a talker…
but this is ridiculous!
S just brought me a plate of pretend food. (She just turned 2 about 2 weeks ago.) She said, "I have food."
I repeated, "You have food?"
She replied, "Actually [ACTUALLY??????], it's fried chicken."
This generation is missing out on so much
C heard the word "cassette" today and wanted to know what it is. Dh told him and then joked that he probably didn't know what an 8-track is. I added, "Or a record."
G jumped in and said, "I know what a record is!"
I asked, "What is it?"
"A giant CD."
In honor of my 2yo dd

What Veggie Tales character are you?

Larry
Take this quiz!OK nevermind that I'm NOT very outgoing and HATE being the center of attention...actually I am a lot like Larry LOL!
My baby isn’t really a baby anymore!
She turned TWO this past Wednesday!
And ohhhhhhhhh how two she is!!! LOL!My older daughter was a typical girl when it came to talking, I'd say, but this little one...WOWSERS!!! By 18 months she had a vocabulary of well over 100 words, and now at 2 she is talking in 6-7 word sentences. Just tonight I was lying on my bed, and she said, "Hey Mommy, can I snuggle with you?" using all the words.
She knows her first and last name.
She is going to make a fool out of me when I didn't believe that there are kids who just decide one day, "Mommy, I'd like to wear underwear." She is soooooooo ready to potty train, but we are driving 1000 miles in December to go to my sister's wedding, and a 2-year-old in diapers is so much easier to travel with than a newly-potty-trained 2-year-old.
She is NOT a sleeper, nosiree...I guess her brain is working overtime or something LOL!
Precocious. That is the word for her all right.

She has the cutest little peanut voice, and whenever she's in trouble she likes to avoid the question by telling us, "I have a dress," which she usually does. She LOVES dresses. "I so pretty," she says. She is a Veggie Tale freak. FREAK, I TELL YOU. She got a little Larry Boy doll for her birthday, and she repeats, "I. AM. THAT. HERO. THEY CALL ME...LARRYBOY!!!!" over and over and over. LOOOOOOVES them all, but I think "Cumber" is her favorite.
She also loves playing Little People. We have a huge chest full of Little People stuff, and she actually plays with it. For a while she would put the people face down in the bed and say, "Night night." After all, she sleeps on her tummy, so doesn't everybody?

She seems to not be nearly as stubborn as a few of the other kiddos are...praise the Lord! She is spunky and a trouble-maker, but she submits to authority pretty easily, which is a refreshing change LOL!!!
She wanted a Veggie Tale cake. Alas, the pan is discontinued, and I lost out on the ebay auction, so I had to improvise. I was flipping through the cake decorating book and spotted a palm tree pan. I said, Hey, if I cut a few leaves off, I'll have Junior! And sure enough...I did!

I am so thankful for my littlest girl. She is a true joy to our family! The Lord has richly blessed me!
