I’ve been on the fence about Wal-Mart
But I think they have just pushed me over to their neighbor's yard.
National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce Announces Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. Membership
The National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) announced today a partnership with Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. as part of the company’s ongoing commitment to advancing diversity among all of its associate, supplier and customer bases. This partnership will include executive representation on the NGLCC’s Corporate Advisory Council (CAC) and sponsorship of the organization’s 2006 events and initiatives.
and
In addition, Wal-Mart will assist the NGLCC in developing, expanding and promoting corporate diversity business development and procurement opportunities by sponsoring some of its programs including two of the organization’s conferences. Last month, NGLCC recognized the company as the newest corporate member of the Chamber at the NGLCC’s International Business and Leadership Conference in Montreal.
An interesting thing that Chautona pointed out: This organization is the one announcing this membership. Not Wal-Mart. In fact, I looked at 3 different Wal-Mart websites and could find NOTHING about this. Not even on their diversity pages. Hmmmmmm. Is that the odor of fish I smell?????
Chewymom, I think I'm joining you!![]()

I definitely do my best to boycott WalMart, but my issues are not with their affiliating with gays & lesbians – I actually have a number of lovely lesbian friends, who may or may not shop at WalMart.
My issue is with the way they treat their employees and the economic impact caused by their intrusion into the community.

I posted on this very same thing. Not sure where we’ll shop now as we have no Target, KMart, etc. The normal groceries are so expensive. Last night I went to 3-4 different dollar stores, Big Lots and Winn Dixie just to find what I needed. I just wanted to cave in and head to Wal-Mart, but my money will NOT go to such a cause as this.

The problem is that there are a lot of major companies that support homosexuals. Here are some that I can think of off the top of my head: Kraft, Ford Motor Co, Allstate Insurance. I actually saw a list and it was pretty long.
Should we boycott every company that has helped or supported the gay agenda?
I’m undecided. I would have to switch car insurance, if I did. We should also consider not buying from Ford which would be easy for to do, no offence.
I’m no Wal-Mart fan, but I do go there for some things. I can’t afford not to.
Just some thoughts…

Well, my beef with Wal-Mart began long before this. The list of reasons is quite long, actually. The gay thing was just the final nail in the coffin.
I’m not saying I’ll NEVER EVER go there again, but I sure will try to do business elsewhere if at all possible!
