Oooh. Aaah.
Can you hear the excitement in my voice? Got this in my e-mail this morning:
"NOW, THEREFORE, I Christine Gregoire, governor of the state of Washington, do hereby proclaim June 11 – 17, 2006 as Homeschool Week in Washington State and I urge all citizens to join me in this special observance."
Know what this means? Pretty much nothing. We still have to test annually. We still have to be "qualified to teach." We still have to file a notice of intent annually.
Spunky Homeschool sums up my thoughts on all of this quite well.

Does sound like typical political blather, doesn’t it?

Politicians. I am one who loves having my decisions affirmed by just about anyone who’ll take the time to tell me. But when a politician starts “playing nice” that’s when I know he’s playing dirty. Oh, I am just too cynical.

I’d be more excited if she said, “I hereby proclaim that I am STEPPING DOWN as governor of Washington State and giving the job to someone who is even a smidgeon more qualified and honest than I am.”
