Does it matter what we believe?
There is an interesting conversation going on in the comment section of this previous post of mine. Is it OK if a person is very sincere in their beliefs and comfortable with their spirituality? I say no. (Because the Bible does.

You are saying ‘no’ only if that person’s beliefs differ from yours. Many others would say yes based upon what their spiritual book states…and most people of a religion seem to think their way is the only way.
I say yes, but that’s primarily because I am not convinced the Bible is correct. I have many questions about its authenticity and accuracy. I also think many Christians are not truly Christians. I see so much hypocrisy, judgment, and justification. (I’m not saying I see that in you…I don’t know you.)
It’s an interesting discussion.

A person can choose to believe whatever he/she wants. But in the long run, all the matters is what the Bible says and whether we obey that. The only way to have true peace with God and the assurance of eternal life is to trust in Jesus alone as our way to heaven. No amount of “sincerity” will do if that sincerity is in anything but Him.
(And I agree with you about many “Christians” not truly acting like Christians.

I too believe that many “chistians” are not truly Christ followers. I also believe that a person can choose whatever he/she wants to believe. But in the end, it only matters if we believe in the One Way, as Jesus said. “I am the Way, the Truth, the Light, NO ONE will get to the Father, except by ME” (I totally know that is somewhat paraphased)

I had read someone who said that “as children of Father God, our petitions to Him in regards to the lost are the first requests He’ll rectify” as He wishes to see no man perish.
In praying for the lost, whoever it may be, the Craigs or the Ashlys, in His time, it may be sooner, it may be later, know that He’ll answer that petition made from you.
Following Christ is a lot of behind the scenes work.
God bless and keep praying for Craig and Ashly. God will answer.

Oh, and as to this post - it 100% without a doubt absolutely positively matters what you believe becaues unless you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal savior, it does not matter if you are the greatest, most helpful, kindest, generous humanitarian walking the face of the earth. You are going to hell.
I believe the Bible is 100% true, inspired by God, written by man and given to us as a guide to living.
I say this with no hint of judging anyone who doesn’t believe this. I’m sure that other people are just as sincere in their beliefs in an afterlife as another person or in another source of comfort.
So if I am wrong, I guess I will be quite surprised to find I am a dog or a street cleaner. But if I am right and the un-saved are wrong, then it will be a horrible eternity for them.
