Surely I can’t be the only one???
I'm taking a bold stand that may ruin my reputation, but I'm going to do it anyway.
I've been reading Debi Pearl's new book Created To Be His Help Meet. I'm not impressed. On message boards and e-mail loops I'm on, on blogs, from friends, all I've heard about is how WONDERFUL this book is. "Forget other submission books, this one is THE book to read as a wife." Granted, I'm only about 10 chapters into it, so perhaps it gets better, but based on what I've read so far, all I can say is that I'm glad it was sent to me free and that I didn't pay money for it.
I will attempt to start blogging my thoughts about each chapter. Perhaps I'm reading more into it than what is there, but in talking with my husband about my different "issues" with the book, I can honestly say that I'm not "off" on my concerns. At least not according to him, whose opinion really matters anyway, right?
So stay tuned. I'll get to it as I can! ![]()

You’re not the only one. It concerns me that the Church could be seduced by such off the wall teaching.
G-d has created us for a lot more than what is articulated in Debbi Pearl’s book.

So true, DB.
I’ll probably blog on this later on, but I’m growing increasingly frustrated by all the marriage/parenting books out there purporting to be putting for the “Biblical way.” If we have the Bible, why do we even NEED these books???????
I’m cool with practical books that DON’T call themselves Biblical, ones like The Five Love Languages or Dr. Ferber’s sleep book for example. With books like that, you can feel free to like it or dislike it. But with “Biblical Marriage/Parenting” books, if you disagree with something, there is the insinuation that you’re disagreeing with the Bible or that you’re disobeying God. NO, I’m simply disagreeing with the author’s opinion of what God’s Word says! ARGH!!! So frustrating!!!

Wow…worked backwards to this entry.
All I can say is this book is not for unsaved women who reject parts of the bible. The spirit of eve is alive and well today as clearly exhibited by many of the people responding positivley to your comments. All I can say is there are alot of professing Christian women in every denomination that are enemies of God and the bible.
I bet the denizens of this board also believe in women preachers.

Um, wow is right.
“All I can say is this book is not for unsaved women who reject parts of the bible.” Of whom are you speaking?
“The spirit of Eve” is alive and well in ALL women…me, these ladies, my daughter, you, and Debi Pearl.
Not that it matters to you since I’ve been labeled a Jezebel, but NO, I do not believe in women preachers.
This was a pretty bold entry Carol. I’ll be praying for you.
