A confession
I'm a medical junkie. LOL people think I'm so smart because I know just enough to SOUND like I know what I'm talking about.
But I love reading medical-type info. If only I knew what I was reading about!Found this awesome blog site: CodeBlueBlog

Just HOW am I supposed to lose weight when they have such DELICIOUS, to DIE for cookies???????????
Terri Schindler-Schiavo (1963-2005)
I'm sure ya'll have heard the horrible news that Terri Schindler-Schiavo has died, after 13 days of torture.
I'm grieving on so many levels.
I'm grieving for her parents. As a mother, I simply cannot imagine watching my child die from thirst. THIRST!!! Not a disease, not an accident, not old age, but THIRST. And not only that, but her parents and siblings were thrown out of her room shortly before she died. They were not even permitted to say good-bye to her when she died.
I'm grieving because I do not know if she was a believer. I know that she was Catholic, but I do not know if she had trusted Jesus alone for her salvation. I kept praying that if Terri was NOT saved, then please would the Lord keep her here on earth since it would be much better here than hell. So I have no idea, and that makes me sad.
I'm grieving because an innocent woman's murder revealed the corruption involved in Pinellas County, FL. Check out the link. All I have to say is "OH MY WORD." John Grisham, move over.
I'm grieving because of the attitude of the judicial branch of our government. The U.S. Circuit Court used this last appeal by the Schindlers as an opportunity to blast the Congress and President. Methinks they never even intended to hear the case - they were just looking for an opportunity to go off on the other branches of government.(View the March 30 court order here.)
I'm grieving because of the mainstream media's portrayal of this case. (My poor husband usually got an ear full as I watched the news every night!) I watched a segment on how Terri doesn't have a cerebral cortex, therefore she can't feel pain, think, blah blah blah. Then how come she would moan or SAY "pain" every month when she was having menstrual cramps? How come they were giving her morphine as she was dehydrating? Nevermind the whole controversy over the CT scan they showed anyway. (Lots of interesting info. here.)
I watched a segment on how Michael Schiavo has been "villified" (NBC Nightly News' words). Well if the shoe fits....
At first when this was a huge deal on the news, I heard lots about how she was "brain dead." Eventually that changed over to "brain damaged." At least they got that part right.
They never explained the "persistent vegetative state" that Terri was in...most likely because Terri didn't actually meet the criteria for diagnosis. But hey, that's what the dr. said (after 45 min. with her), so she's in a PVS, right?????
We heard LOTS about the "relgious" slant to this issue. THIS ISSUE IS NOT ABOUT RELIGION. This issue was about whether a person who has, in effect, divorced a spouse has the legal right to make life or death decisions about his spouse. This is about corruption in government. This is about possible domestic abuse. This is about the fact that convicted murderers have more rights in America than Terri Schindler-Schiavo did. There are LOTS of people on BOTH sides of the fence (Christians, non-Christians, conservatives, liberals, Democrats, Republicans, you name it) that are appalled that Terri was killed in such a way.
I saw lots of segments on "right to die" issues. TERRI WAS NOT DYING. She did not have a terminal illness. This wasn't about "letting her go." This was about a woman whose brain wasn't working properly being starved/deydrated by her husband. This was about a woman who wasn't even permitted to have ice chips for relief. This was about a healthy woman with a brain injury.
I saw NO segments questioning the original diagnosis of a persistent vegetative state. I saw NO segments doing any sort of investigative work (a la "48 Hours Mystery" or something of that nature).
And I'll be honest. I'm grieving because President and Governor Bush didn't do more. There is lots of controversy even on the pro-Terri side of this issue regarding their actions. But I happen to fall on the side that wonders why the President/Governor has the authority to pardon a convicted murderer who has been sentenced to death by court order but NOT a brain-damaged woman who is being dehydrated to death by court order, so that the DCF can properly investigate allegations of abuse????
I no longer can pray that God would save Terri. Now I pray that investigations are done. There are LOTS of people involved. There need to be consequences. A murder has been committed. And America stood by and watched. Some Americans couldn't do anything to stop it. Other Americans WOULDN'T do anything to stop it. And other Americans were giving their approval of the murder.
May God have mercy on our nation.
I love Alan Keyes
Loved him when he ran for President in 1996. Still do today.
Judicial review and executive responsibility
Ah Michael, you’re such an honorable man….
From FOXNews.com - U.S. & World - Jesse Jackson Visits Schiavo Hospice:
George Felos, the attorney for Michael Schiavo, said Monday that the chief medical examiner for Pinellas County, Dr. John Thogmartin, had agreed to perform an autopsy.
He said her husband wants definitive proof showing the extent of her brain damage.
Um, gee, wouldn't you think that they'd want to find out how brain damaged she is BEFORE they kill her? I smell a rat....
Felos said he had visited Schiavo for more than an hour Monday and said she looked "very peaceful. She looked calm."
"I saw no evidence of any bodily discomfort whatsoever," Felos said,
Dude, that's the morphine they're giving her for pain. Oh wait, but people in a persistent vegetative state don't feel pain. Yet Terri does. Hmmmmmmm.
I'm still praying that Jeb intervenes, just like the law tells him to.
It ain’t about bunnies, eggs, or baskets
"He is not here; He has risen, as He said [He would do]." Matthew 28:6
Although I fail Him far too often, Jesus loves me anyway. He knew there was no way for me to ever do enough good to go to heaven on my own, since "no one does right, not even one." (Romans 3:12) So since He loves me (and you!), He willingly took the punishment that I deserve.
And not only that, He proved His power becuase 3 days later, He came back to life again!
So I live my life, attempting to please Jesus. As I said, I don't do a very good job of it, but that is when I'm not letting Him be the Boss. People who don't follow Jesus typically think that Christians think they are perfect. Or they think we are trying to do good in order to get into heaven. Unfortunately many times they are right.
But that is not what the Bible says at all.On this Easter Sunday, I encourage you to examine your life. Examine your walk with God. I don't care if you "aren't religious," think Christians are "nutcases," or have a particular beef with some sort of denomination or "Christian cause." Don't look at God through other people and what they have done/not done to/for you. Examine your relationship with God.
I can tell you this. Jesus is the ONLY way to go to heaven and to live a life pleasing to God. In John 14:6 Jesus said, "I am the Way and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except by (through) Me."
But it's not just a matter of knowing that "oh yeah, Jesus is God," "yeah, I believe in God," etc. Romans 10:9 says "Because if you acknowledge and confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and in your heart believe (adhere to, trust in, and rely on the truth) that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." You must trust JESUS and no one else (not yourself, not what some pastor said, not what you can do) to save you. You simply CAN'T do it on your own and "hope for the best." Your best will never be good enough.
And then TELL SOMEONE. In Luke 9:26 Jesus said, "Because whoever is ashamed of Me and of My teachings, of him will the Son of Man be ashamed when He comes in the [threefold] glory (the splendor and majesty) of Himself and of the Father and of the holy angels." I'd love it if you shared your decision with me.
But the important thing is that you tell someone, don't hide, and let the Holy Spirit change your life.So on this wonderful day, my prayer is that if you haven't already done so, make Jesus your Boss. And if you have, reflect on what He has done in your life. We should everyday, but Easter Sunday is an especially great day to do so.
Easter is about Jesus proving how much He loves us. Easter is about Jesus coming back to life after dying on the cross to be punished instead of us. Easter is about Jesus proving that HE IS GOD.
I NEVER thought I’d hear myself say this
I agree with Jesse Jackson and Ralph Nader!!!

FOXNews.com - The Big Story w/ John Gibson - My Word - Desperate Times, Desperate Measures?
John, I couldn't have said it any better myself.
It’s too bad Terri Schiavo hadn’t committed a crime
The liberals would be chomping at the bit to save her life.
But that's beside the point.
Forgive me if I ramble and if my thoughts are jumbled. My heart is just so heavy about this whole thing. As I type this, the Schindlers are re-appealing to Judge Whittemore. I PRAY that his heart is softened and that he'd see through the legal-ese to the issue at hand. It's doubtful, since he already disregarded Congress's directions to look at the facts in the case FRESH. But God is a God of miracles, and so I do still hold out hope that Judge Whittemore will get a clue.
Jeb Bush is between a rock and a hard place. Judge Greer's ruling that NO ONE, including the executive branch of government, can take Terri into custody means that if Gov. Bush steps in, he's in contempt of court. Of course, I don't understand how it's OK for a judge to issue an order to disobey the constitution (both state and federal), but I guess that's beside the point since what Judge Greer says, goes. (insert rolling eyes here)
However, the tough issues usually come to a head when someone has the guts to be willing to be thrown into jail over something reprehensible like this.
I'm frustrated at the pro-death camp and their arguments. "Just let her die in peace." OHHH! Or George Felos's comments today. "She's in her death process. She is receiving wonderful care by nurses and attendants, who are seeing that her physical needs are being met." (Paraphrased since I was listening to the radio when I heard it.) Um yeah, physical needs???? Like, say, FOOD AND WATER???????? I'm sorry George Felos, you can bite my butt.
Anyway, "just let her die." SHE WASN'T DYING UNTIL THEY REMOVED HER FEEDING TUBE! Everyone acts as though she were being kept alive by a machine. And yes, I realize that the Supreme Court ruled that a feeding tube is an artificial means of being kept alive, just like a respirator or what have you. But not only is she not allowed to receive nourishment via a feeding tube, she cannot have IV fluids (dying from starvation is one thing, dying from dehydration is another), she cannot have ice chips on her lips, she cannot be given a wet washcloth to suck on (which nurses have done behind Michael's back).
Yet HEAVEN FORBID if we do anything like that to the terrorism suspects that are in the prison camp in Gitmo.
WHAT IS THE BIG PROBLEM about letting her stay alive until the facts in the case can be reviewed? Especially since she isn't in pain (according to the pro-death camp). She isn't suffering. Well, she WASN'T anyway, until they started the execution process.
Well, I'll tell you what the problem is. Michael Schiavo wants her dead, plain and simple. His attorney is a pro-euthanasia attorney. Judge Greer has made several legal mistakes and probably fears for his job (which he should!).
If Terri Schiavo dies, CHARGES NEED TO BE FILED.

FOXNews.com - The O'Reilly Factor - Talking Points - A Solution to the Schiavo Case
Not that I agree with Bill O'Reilly all the time (in fact, in recent days he's kind of irritated me....), but on this he has hit the nail on the head.
However, I don't actually think it will happen, since I am one that firmly believes that the REAL reason Michael Schiavo is trying to kill his wife is because he has something to hide. But perhaps I'm wrong, and I HOPE I AM. In that case then yes, Michael Schiavo needs to give up.
